Heatwave Interactive Sponsors the Austin IGDA Summer Picnic
One of the things I love about Heatwave is that it is a multidimensional organization. What that means is, our end goal is not just to make great games. Nor is it to make money, although naturally we want to do both of those things. Rather, we regard those as a means of achieving other goals, such as supporting worthy causes, donating to charity, and generally making the world a better place.
One of our favorite worthy causes is promoting the Austin game development community. We happen to think that Austin is the best place in the world to make games. Pragmatically speaking, that’s probably not entirely true today… but we plan to make it so! The Austin chapter of the IGDA has similar aims so it’s a natural fit. As such, we’re one of the companies sponsoring the annual IGDA summer picnic, taking place tomorrow at Richard Garriott’s home.
This is the point at which I would normally encourage everyone to be there, but unfortunately the picnic is already at capacity. Don’t fret though! There’ll be other Heatwave-sponsored events in the future. Meanwhile, if you’re one of the 700 or so people who are attending, I encourage you to corner any Heatwave employees you happen to see (we’ll be wearing black t-shirts with the Heatwave logo). We’ll be happy to talk about the company, our vision, and how we’re going to get there. Just don’t ask about our products yet!
There’s lots going on at Heatwave these days, including a cadre of new hires, the completion of our new office space in Northwest Austin, a new domain name and obviously lots of great new projects. We’re looking forward to telling you all about it in the near future, but until then, please check out our open job listings, and click on the image below to check out the video from our party last month at AGDC! more »
